Creating or updating a Command Type uses the same form.
You can simply create a new Command Type by selecting ‘Create Command Type’ from the left hand navigation. To edit any details go to the Asset and click the Update button that will appear in the top right hand corner.

Read through this article in full taking particular note of the information on Command Types
Give your Command Type a name. Keep it unique so it will be easily recognisable in future to yourself and your wider team.
A description should include any key information about the Command Type such as use, management and condition. Try to include information that will make it easier for others to understand the Command Types purpose.
Select the type of data your Command is expecting to send and receive. This helps us categorise it and display the correct format for you on your dashboards. More information on each type is below.
HEX HEX is a way to receive colour information as a hexadecimal value.
Float Floating Point Numbers. Scientific Notation: has a single digit to the left of the decimal point. Computer arithmetic that supports such numbers is called Floating Point. A Single-Precision floating-point number occupies 32-bits, so there is a compromise between the size of the mantissa and the size of the exponent.
Integer An integer (from the Latin integer meaning “whole”) is a number that can be written without a fractional component.
Switch Switch will give you two readings on or off
GPIO General-purpose input/output (GPIO) is a generic pin on an integrated circuit whose behaviour including whether it is an input or output pin, can be controlled by the user at run time. GPIO pins have no special purpose defined, and go unused by default.
Image Receives image files in gif, jpg or png format.
PWM Pulse Width Modulation, or PWM, is a technique for getting analog results with digital means. Digital control is used to create a square wave, a signal switched between on and off.
String Is a text string.
Category Is a response that is one of a possible set. Each category has a title and a value.
GPS Returns a value in latitude longitude.
Save Whether creating or update make sure you click Save at the end! If you’ve made an update but don’t want to save it for any reason don’t worry – click cancel to revert it.
